7th Pay Commission Current Information: Many state governments also made the decision to increase the dearness allowance (DA) for their employees during the holiday season, following the Center’s announcement last month that central government employees, who are paid in accordance with the 7th Pay Commission, would receive a 4% rise. West Bengal was the last state to announce an increase in employees’ dearness allowance on December 21, 2023, following Punjab’s announcement on December 18 and Meghalaya’s declaration on December 20. West Bengal Increases DA by 4%

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, declared that government workers would receive a 4% pay increase starting on January 1. Speaking at the opening of the Kolkata Christmas Carnival 2023 at Allen Park in the city’s Park Street neighbourhood, she made the announcement.

“I declare that effective January 1, 2024, all 14 lakh state government employees, pensioners, and teaching and non-teaching staff at all schools, colleges, and universities, as well as employees of all statutory undertakings and parastatals, will receive an additional 4 percent DA installment,” Banerjee declared.

Banerjee stated that her government would have to pay an extra Rs 2,400 crore for the DA hike, claiming that the central government must provide DA while the state may choose to do so “optionally.”

DA is raised by 4% in Meghalaya

On December 20, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma declared that 55,000 government workers would receive their December salaries early and that the dearness allowance would increase by 3%.

DA is raised by 4% in Meghalaya

On December 20, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma declared that 55,000 government workers would receive their December salaries early and that the dearness allowance would increase by 3%. “To our team of 55,000 government workers, a happy Christmas! We are happy to inform that early salary releases for December are underway. Additionally, a 3% DA hike has been approved, Conrad posted on X.

The chief minister also shared a finance department office memo, in which the governor authorised raising the dearness relief rate for workers and retirees from the current 36% to 39% starting on July 1.

Punjab 4% Increases DA

Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, declared on December 18 that government employees’ dearness allowance would increase by 4% starting this month. According to Punjab State Ministerial Services Union (PSMSU) President Amrik Singh, the DA will rise to 38% following the hike.

Following a meeting with the PSMSU representatives, a decision in this regard was made. Mann talked about a number of the workers’ demands during the meeting.

“Had a meeting today and thoroughly discussed their issues with the representatives of the Punjab State Ministerial Service Union. letting everyone know that we will be giving our staff a gift for the new year. The 4% increase in DA will take effect on December 1, 2023, according to a post made by Mann on X.

The announcement coincides with state employees’ demands to reinstate the previous pension plan, release the outstanding 12 percent disability benefits, and regularise contract workers.

By 4%, Assam increased DA.

The Assam government, led by Himanta Biswas Sarma, declared earlier this month that employee DA would increase by 4%. As a result, the current 42 percent total DA for state government employees is raised to 46 percent. The increased DA would be implemented on December 1.

Uttar Pradesh adds 4% to the DA

On November 7, the UP government raised the DA by 4% and announced a Diwali bonus for its workers. As a result, the overall DA quantum rises from 42% to 46%.

By 4%, Arunachal Pradesh increases DA

The Arunachal Pradesh government, led by Pema Khandu, declared on November 10 a 4 percent increase in dearness relief (DR) for pensioners and DA for employees. This raises the DA and DR to 46% overall.

Chandigarh increases DA by 4%

On November 7, the Chandigarh government declared that the DA for workers in the Union Territory (UT) would increase. Employees would be eligible for arrears payment as of July 1st, when the hike would take effect.
Along with the DA, reports stated that the UT administration approved the implementation of the non-productivity linked bonus (ad hoc bonus), which is the same as thirty days’ worth of emoluments for non-gazetted employees in Group B and eligible employees in Group C.

Chandigarh increases DA by 4%

On November 7, the Chandigarh government declared that the DA for workers in the Union Territory (UT) would increase. Employees would be eligible for arrears payment as of July 1st, when the hike would take effect.

Along with the DA, reports stated that the UT administration approved the implementation of the non-productivity linked bonus (ad hoc bonus), which is the same as thirty days’ worth of emoluments for non-gazetted employees in Group B and eligible employees in Group C.

Karnataka raises DA by 3.75 percent.

In an order dated October 21, the Karnataka government, which is led by Congress, raised the state government employees’ DA by 3.75 percent. The announcement increased the overall DA component from 35 percent to 38.75 percent ahead of Dussehra.

Additionally, the Karnataka government announced that lecturers on the UGC/AICTE/ICAR scale and judges would receive a 4 percent rise in DA.

Tamil Nadu increases DA by 4%
