A home birthing effort gone wrong claimed the life of a 27-year-old lady in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. When her husband, Madhesh, attempted a natural delivery while following a YouTube tutorial, the incidence occurred. Despite his best efforts, the delivery went horribly wrong because the umbilical chord was mishandled, which caused the mother, Loganayaki, to lose a lot of blood.
The upsetting incident happened in Puliampatti, a neighbourhood close to Pochampalli where Loganayaki and Madhesh lived. As labour pains began, Madhesh made the decision to proceed with a home delivery. Loganayaki lost a lot of blood as a result of his failure to properly cut the umbilical chord as he tried to follow the instructions from the online video.

Loganayaki lost a lot of blood as a result of his failure to properly cut the umbilical chord as he tried to follow the instructions from the online video.
When things got really bad, Loganayaki was transported unconscious to the Primary Health Centre (PHC). Tragically, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, she was declared dead when she arrived at the centre.
The municipal government responded by applying Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). This tragic tragedy serves as a sombre reminder of how crucial it is to have proper medical care and qualified specialists present during birthing. It emphasises that even though online sites might provide useful information, some operations should only be carried out by qualified people in suitable medical settings.
