Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh weather update for the upcoming few days

Jan. 2, Srinagar: While the Jammu region saw relatively warmer overnight temperatures, the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region saw minimum temperatures below freezing today.

Pahalgam had the lowest temperature in the Kashmir valley, at -6.2°C. Other major stations with below-freezing minimums between -2.7°C and -6.7°C were Srinagar, Qazigund, Kupwara, Kokernag, Anantnag, Pulwama, Baramulla, and Shopian. The resort town of Gulmarg experienced a -4°C low.

All stations in the Jammu division recorded minimum temperatures above freezing, with the exception of Bhaderwah, which recorded 0.4°C. The lowest recorded temperature in Jammu city was 7.7°C.

Ladakh was still completely frozen, with Leh recording a low of -10.9°C. At -9.9°C and -13.7°C, respectively, Kargil and Drass had similar temperatures.

According to the Met Office’s forecast, Kashmir and Ladakh will likely experience more cold weather over the next few days, with sporadic reports of light snow. In the meantime, Jammu’s minimum temperatures shouldn’t change significantly over the next week.
