December 31, Srinagar: Six individuals have been identified by the Jammu and Kashmir police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) as being involved in the multi-crore Curative Survey scam, and one Tamil Nadu accused has been taken into custody.
According to a police spokesman, on December 19, 2023, it was discovered that a fraudulent company going by the name “Curative Survey Private Limited” had deceived and fooled the public by using a phoney website to trick them into believing they would receive large returns on their investments. By making false promises of returns, the company tricked the subscribers into investing their hard-earned money. Following its deceptive and dishonest behaviour, the company stopped responding, leaving subscribers in the dark and igniting unrest and suffering.
In response, he said, the Cyber Police Station in Kashmir Zone, Srinagar, received a case under File No. 39/2023, which was filed in accordance with Section 66D of the IT Act and Section 420 of the IPC.
He said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to look into the case due to the seriousness of the situation.
According to the spokesman, the company opened six offices in the Kashmir Valley and one regional office in Jammu in January and February of 2023. This information was found out during the course of the investigation. After that, all seven offices were searched, sealed, and the evidence that implicated the defendants was taken out and forwarded to the FSL for review and professional judgement. Many of the company’s workers from all over Jammu and Kashmir were located, interviewed, and had their statements recorded. A number of victims also came to SIT, and their testimonies were documented.
The victims’ statement, technical, and digital evidence were used by the SIT to identify six accused individuals, all of whom were not residents of Jammu and Kashmir’s Union Territory. To apprehend the accused individuals who had been identified, various police teams were formed. The SIT in Tamil Nadu has detained one accused individual, who is being held under police remand. There are plans to apprehend the other defendants as well.
The gathering of relevant data and witness statements are used to determine the amount of financial loss suffered by the victims. The company has frozen all of its account numbers, and more research is still going on. The investigation focuses on the involvement of the primary accused individuals’ local contacts and employees. The social media influencers who used different social media platforms to promote the business were also looked at, and their possible criminal activity is being looked into. The spokesperson also stated that 27 complaints have been received by Cyber Police Station Kashmir Zone Srinagar thus far.
If the public has any complaints about this company, they are kindly asked to come forward.
