Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, who was arrested in September of last year and afterwards placed at Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu, has been ordered by the court to be released.

The leader of the ‘Tehreek e Sowtul Auliya’ based in Anantnag is Moulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, perhaps one of the most well-liked clerics from the Kashmir valley. The seminary in the south Kashmir district is managed by the organisation Dawoodi is the leader of. The 49-year-old preacher spoke to the Friday congregation in Kabamarg, Anantnag, where he had previously lived.

Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri, a well-known member of “Jamiat e Ahl e Hadith,” who delivers the Friday sermon at Jamia Masjid Ahli Hadith in Sherbagh, Anantnag, was also arrested in 2019 for violating the Public Safety Act (PSA).

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat Mushtaq, Ahmed Veeri’s family revealed that they had received a call from the police asking them to supply clothes for the cleric. They also confirmed that he had been arrested. The family member claimed that following this, he was moved to Jammu.
