The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) recipients will receive an extra subsidy of Rs 100 on LPG cylinders, as announced recently by the Central Government. The subsidy relief has therefore increased to Rs 300. In addition, the government has declared that the programme will add 75 lakh new connections.

According to Pankaj Jain, secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the demand for LPG will not change in the near future. “A new generation of LPG customers is actually coming in first when it comes to converting from LPG to PNG. PNG and LPG are both expanding, according to Pankaj Jain.

Issues with PNG: According to the Secretary, a sizable consumer base would be necessary for PNG to be used as a major fuel. Jain stated that given PNG’s geographic location, there are several areas where the country struggles. The country still has a great deal of communities with fewer than 200 houses. PNG might not be practical in some areas.

Relief up to Rs 300: As you may recall, the government raised the cooking gas (LPG) subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) by Rs 100 earlier this month. Following this increase, the Ujjwala initiative is now offering a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder. This action will benefit almost 9 crore families. The government is acting in this way to incentivize users of the Ujjwala programme.
